Someone Who Needs It
Windwalker is run entirely by volunteers. Nobody here draws a salary, so a gift does not get absorbed by overhead. It funds credentialing, education, and the programs that put therapy teams into schools, hospitals, courts, and care facilities.
You can give to the everyday work of the organization, or to the fund that cares for the therapy pets themselves.

THE WINDWALKER FUND
Support Our Everyday Mission
Your gift sustains the heart of our work: credentialing therapy teams, delivering programs in schools, hospitals, and courts, and advancing the profession of Pet Assisted Therapy across Rhode Island.
THE HOOVER FUND
Care for Therapy Pets
Financial assistance to credentialed and retired therapy pets, offsetting the cost of behavioral training and veterinary care. Support may also be given in memory of pets that have passed. Assistance is awarded on the needs of the pet, regardless of the guardian’s circumstances.
Sandy and Hoover
Originally established as Sandy’s Fund and later renamed to honor Hoover, this fund carries two stories that shaped how Windwalker thinks about the animals who do this work.
Rescued by the RISPCA after years of severe neglect, Sandy entered the DJ training program in 2007. Despite the dedication and patience of the training team, she was unable to complete it. Her journey inspired the creation of the original fund.
A rescued, credentialed Windwalker therapy dog who returned to therapy work after surviving a devastating attack while on a walk with his owner. He made an extensive recovery. His courage and devotion inspired the fund to be renamed in his honor.
Every therapy pet has a story of courage and hope. The Hoover Fund exists so they receive the care they need to keep changing lives.
