Credentialing A New Pet

Only Windwalker Members whose dues are current are eligible for any part of the credentialing process.


Credentialing a New Pet for a Current Windwalker Credentialed Team
(Member is in good standing with Windwalker and wishes to credential a new pet in addition to the current pet.)

    Guardian completes the form for credentialing a new pet and sends to Treasurer to confirm membership status in order to arrange for a Temperament Evaluation. (Treasurer, Karen Lewis, 190 Mill Cove Road, Warwick, RI 02889)

    Treasurer will forward form to Director of DJ Program once active membership is confirmed.

    Form for Credentialing a New Pet


Process once the form is received by DJ Director:

    DJ Director will arrange to have the pet evaluated with the Guardian.

    The Guardian will provide a "Fee for Service" in the amount of $50 to the DJ Director for a Temperament Evaluation of each pet. The $50.00 credential fee will then be waived by Windwalker when the Credential application is made.

    The Team (defined as a Guardian with one or more pets) must complete the Temperament Evaluation successfully (includes a Temperament Test and up to two separate situational assessment/walk-throughs (scheduled usually during mid-terms and finals of the DJ Program. The successful evaluation is confirmed in writing by the Director.

    The Director will contact the Windwalker Credential Reviewer that the New Pet Evaluation is completed and the Team is ready to be credentialed.

    Reviewer will make contact through email and send mailing address for application materials.
    Credential Application/Renewal Form

    Completed application forms are sent to Reviewer. Credential fee is waived for the application as stated above.

    Credential and ID card will be valid to the Team's original renewal date.


Credentialing a New Pet for a Previous Windwalker Credentialed Team
(Member is in good standing with Windwalker but no longer has a pet actively participating in pet assisted therapy. The Member wishes to credential a new pet, or recredential a pet who has lapsed in their participation.)

Note: Completion of Basic Obedience classes is highly recommended before participating in Temperament Evaluations.

    Guardian completes the form for credentialing a new pet and sends to Treasurer to join Windwalker, or to confirm member status, in order to arrange for Temperament Evaluation. (Treasurer, Karen Lewis, 190 Mill Cove Road, Warwick, RI 02889)
